SuperConcepts invests in trustee course

SuperConcepts has launched its first education initiative for trustees via an online education course, which will help simplify the way trustees learn about the requirements and responsibilities of running their SMSF.

Although specifically designed for SMSF trustees who receive an ATO education direction, the course is also available to anyone who wants to learn more about the roles and responsibilities of being an SMSF trustee. Taken across one or several sittings, the course is currently delivered through SuperConcepts’ direct-to-trustee brand, AMP SMSF, and can be downloaded via the ATO website free of charge.

SuperConcepts technical and education services general manager Peter Burgess said running an SMSF could be a complex task, requiring an understanding of many rules and regulations to be compliant.

“We know this can present challenges for trustees who are time poor or have only recently established an SMSF,” Burgess said.

The course has been designed as an interactive and engaging experience, and includes ‘ask an expert’ pop-ups and links to ATO videos, checklists and references.

“We firmly believe in the importance of education in providing trustees with the best opportunity to successfully manage and grow their fund,” Burgess said.

“We believe we play an important role in sharing our knowledge and expertise with SMSF trustees to make this happen.”

In March, SuperConcepts chief executive Natasha Fenech told selfmanagedsuper AMP’s SMSF business arm was planning to launch new capabilities for trustees as a way to lift industry standards and knowledge.

At the time, Fenech said there seemed to be a lot of education available in the sector, but nothing consolidated where trustees could go.
