Three Clime funds get strong SQM rating

Clime rating SQM

SQM research has awarded a superior rating to three wealth offerings on open to retail investors from Clime Investment Management.

Clime Investment Management has received a superior rating for three of its managed funds from SQM Research.

The Clime Smaller Companies Fund, Clime Australian Income Fund and Clime International Fund were all awarded an investment rating of four stars or more, qualifying each offering for SQM’s superior category.

The superior rating indicates SQM believes the funds have the ability to outperform over the medium to long term. Further, management of the funds has been assessed to be of a very high calibre and the offerings have generated strong returns in the past with no material corporate governance issues.

The ratings were awarded, in part, because of Clime’s investment team having both top-down and bottom-up analysis experience stemming from the time the members have spent in the industry, which cumulatively totals over 150 years.

Clime’s investment philosophy uses a strong valuation process to allow allocations to quality stocks. The manager looks to provide returns in excess of the relevant benchmarks at lower levels of risk.

In a superannuation context, its investment approach is aimed at growing and protecting capital during accumulation phase and providing a reliable income when an individual retires.

“We’re pleased to have received these outstanding ratings, recognising the quality of the suite of Clime Group managed funds and the Clime investment team. This is reflective of our top-quartile performance in the past 12 months across three of these four strategies,” Clime chief executive Rod Bristow said.

Clime head of investments Adrian Ezquerro welcomed the ratings as an endorsement of the methodology the manager employs.

“The ratings for our managed funds are further validation of our rigorous investment process and ability to deliver high-quality solutions for clients,” Ezquerro said.
